Integrating Exercise, Appetite Regulation and Food Choices  For a Healthy Lifestyle: The Role of Behavioral, Physiological, and Neural Mechanisms

This mini-symposium, which is funded through the University of Nebraska Food for Health Initiative, is coordinated by a transdisciplinary research consortium studying the effects of exercise on decision making about future food intake. The research consortium is led by Dr. Karsten Koehler, assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and Dr. Jeffrey Stevens, associate professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Keynote lectures include:

  • Robin Shook (Children’s Mercy, Kansas City): "Physical Activity, Appetite Control, and Energy Balance"
  • Laura Martin (University of Kansas Medical Center): "Obesity: A health neuroscience perspective"
  • Aron Barbey (University of Illinois): "Scientific Innovations for Healthy Brain Aging"

The half-day symposium, which starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m., is open to the public, but advance registration is required. Please complete the registration below. The symposium will be held in the Unity Room in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center at UNL.

There will be a closed session for principle investigators in the afternoon (12:30 - 5:00 p.m.) in the Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior (CB3).
