Racial Justice Resources.

ICMEE is Committed to Anti-Racist Teaching

On this page, you can find free resources for anti-racist teaching, created for educators, by educators. Understanding racism, learning to recognize racism, and interrupting racism are all skills that must be learned and taught explicitly. The resources on this page are designed to help educators work toward this goal.

Anti-Bias/Anti-Racist Education from Theory to Practice: Doing ABAR Work in Your School Community

7/14 5-6pm CST: Opening the Door to ABAR Work in Your School Community

In this session, we will walk through our personal experience opening up a dialog within our school community about the importance of ABAR work.  By walking through our conversations with colleagues and leadership, sharing the planning process, and describing our first year in action, we hope to offer a blueprint for other educators to make ABAR work a reality in their schools.

7/27 5-6pm CST: But I Have to Teach the Standards: Integrating ABAR Work into the Classroom

In this session, we describe our thought process as we create standards-based lessons across the curriculum that expose learners to diverse representations and encourage them to engage with the world around them.  Attendees will see visual examples of actual lessons and activities we have done in our classrooms!

7/29 5-6pm CST: Don’t Just Talk About It, Do It

Time to practice! In this interactive session, educators will be given actual lessons to transform.  With guidance from the facilitators, you will have the opportunity to work with other educators to look at current curriculum critically in order to infuse ABAR principles into lessons.
