Alyssa Schmidt joined the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders in April 2023 as a lecturer and clinical educator in the Barkley Speech Language and Hearing Clinic.
Schmidt was previously an SLP at Tabitha Nursing and Rehab working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, where she pursued improved dysphagia management across Tabitha campuses. She also spent time with Old Cheney Rehabilitation and Lincoln Public Schools.
In the community, Schmidt has provided supervision for speech-language pathology graduate students at Horses for Healing Nebraska, and also serves as a volunteer for Domesti-PUPS and as a Master Gardener.
Schmidt earned her master's degree in speech-language pathology from Nebraska in 2016. She graduated from the University of Wyoming with a bachelor's degree in speech-language & hearing science in 2014 and earned an associate's degree from Casper College in 2012.
