Emily Dorsey is an assistant professor of practice in the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders. She teaches early childhood special education courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Emily also teaches distance graduate courses related to Autism Spectrum Disorder and collaboration with families. She is invested in building the knowledge and skills of pre-service and practicing teachers who work or will work in inclusive early childhood environments.

Emily completed her doctorate in special education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research focused on collaborations between public and private early care and education programs, with special emphasis on how collaborative programs could best serve young children with disabilities.

During her time in Illinois, Emily was an active member of several statewide committees focused on providing high-quality inclusive early care and education for young children.
