Personnel Preparation in Sensory Disabilities
The Mid-Plains Professional Upgrade Partnership - Sensory Disabilities project was designed to address the critical shortage of highly qualified teachers who serve children and youth with sensory disabilities, including those who are visually impaired or deaf or hard of hearing, in Nebraska and the surrounding Mid-Plains states.
The MPUP-SD Project
–Is a distance-education program.
–Takes two years (including summers) to complete.
–Will lead to an endorsement in teaching children with visual impairments OR teaching children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
–May lead to a Master of Arts in special education.
Applicant Information
–Must possess a valid teaching license.
–A background in special education is preferred, but not required.
Funding Covers
–Tuition for the course sequence of 36 credits. You are responsible for books and fees.
–Membership to a professional organization.
–Travel expenses to the Nebraska Deaf-Blind Institute and MPUP-SD Seminar at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
