HearU Nebraska will be featured during the Lincoln Saltdogs’ annual Nebraska Commission for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Night scheduled for Wednesday, July 18, at Haymarket Park in Lincoln.

A portion of proceeds from ticket sales at the game will be donated to HearU Nebraska, a hearing aid bank housed in the Barkley Memorial Center on East Campus that provides hearing aids to children ages 0-18 years throughout Nebraska whose families might not otherwise be able to afford them.

First pitch for the game between the Saltdogs and the Wichita Wingnuts is set for 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $11 and can be purchased at https://saltdogs.com/hearu/. Raffle tickets will also be sold during the game for a prize package featuring an autographed Saltdogs baseball, a camouflage Saltdogs jersey and four lower-level tickets to a future game. The cost for raffle tickets is $1 each or six for $5. All proceeds from the raffle will go directly to HearU Nebraska.

Stacie Ray, an associate professor of practice in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders, founded the Nebraska Children’s Hearing Aid Bank in 2008. Three years later, the hearing aid bank became HearU Nebraska, a fund within the University of Nebraska Foundation. In its 10 years of existence, HearU Nebraska has provided 660 hearing aids to 390 children from nearly 80 different communities across Nebraska.

This year, in honor of HearU Nebraska’s 10th anniversary, a supporter has pledged to match up to $15,000 in donations to the hearing aid bank. All proceeds from the Saltdogs game will be included in the donation match.

In addition to the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Awareness Night, it will also be Buck Night at Haymarket Park, with $1 hot dogs, sodas and popcorn, $2 tall boys and domestic draws and $3 craft beer draws available.
