SECD announces 2019-20 graduate open house dates

08 Oct 2019     By Kelcey Buck

The Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders is hosting five open houses during the 2019-20 academic year for prospective students to learn about its graduate programs. The first open house focuses on the special education program, while the remaining four are for students interested in the speech-language pathology and audiology graduate programs.

The special education open house is 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Barkley Memorial Center for students interested in the on-campus master’s and endorsement options. Students may attend the open house via Zoom to learn more about the distance education programs in deaf/hard of hearing, visual impairments or early childhood special education. All attendees will meet faculty and current students, and learn about the application process, funding opportunities and each program’s options and advisers.

Dates for the four speech-language pathology and audiology graduate open houses are Nov. 1 and 15, 2019, and April 3 and 10, 2020. Each event begins at 9 a.m. and finishes around 3 p.m. Prospective students have opportunities to meet current students and faculty, tour the Barkley Memorial Center and the Barkley Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic, and visit research labs. In addition, students will learn about the application process and funding opportunities. They may also schedule advising appointments with faculty members specializing in their area of interest.
