Speech-Language Pathology: Costa Rica

Open to graduate students in the Speech-Language Pathology program, this two-week trip takes students to multiple locations near San José, Costa Rica, to provide accent modification and English-language enrichment services to Fiserv associates. Students also have the opportunity to work with individuals in the hospitality industry in the rural mountain town of Monteverde to provide accent modification and English-language enrichment services pertinent to the English-speaking tourists in the community.

  • Students will acquire ASHA hours (up to 45 hours of treatment) and competencies – assessment and treatment in the areas of speech, multicultural, language, and possibly voice – during the adventure.
  • Cost of the trip – including tuition, fees, airfare, meals, lodging, excursions and souvenirs – is usually between $4,000 and $5,000 per person.
