We had a group of doctoral candidates who meet for lunch each day and swapped stories. The classes were fine, for the most part, but the getting together at lunch was really super.
I taught in the Education Department at Morningside College - a variety of classes and chaperoned over 500 student teachers in my 29 years at the college. I was department chair for over 20 years and head of the graduate program, too. My favorite thing, however, was teaching graduate level classes to teachers who were working on their Master's degrees.
It was great preparation for being a college teacher. Some of the best classes were the Junior High School, School Finance and History of Education.
Teaching is the greatest. Adminisration is okay, but I found my greatest joy in teaching future teachers.
