In looking at district and state data, our school’s reading comprehension scores consistently fall 15% below other schools. Our overall objective is to increase student reading comprehension and understanding of fiction and nonfiction text.  The staff will be trained  in the nine general categories of research based comprehension strategies identified  as  best  practice for student achievement by Marzano (2001). Staff will collaborate throughout the school year to create formative and summative assessments for monthly data comparison.
