Celebration of Youth XXI: Elegant Solutions Creative Work by Nebraska 4-H Youth October 20 - November 8, 2014 Celebration and Reception: Saturday, November 8, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Program begins in Room 11, lower level, Human Sciences Building , East Campus. Public reception immediately follows on the second floor outside the Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery.The creative work of twenty-seven Nebraska Youth, ages 10 to 19, will be presented in the 21st annual Celebration of Youth: Elegant Solutions in the Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery. The exhibition opens on October 20, 2014, and runs through November 8, 2014. The work featured in the show was selected from exhibits in the areas of Home Environment, Clothing, and Quilt Quest at the 2014 Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island. Additional items by eleven alternates will be displayed in the showcases outside of the gallery. On Saturday, November 8, the Department of Textiles, Merchandising & Fashion Design will host an afternoon of workshops for the youth and their parents, concluding with a short talk by each gallery exhibitor. The public is invited to the presentations at 5:00 p.m. in the auditorium, room 11, on the lower of the Human Sciences Building . The exhibitors will also be recognized with a special tribute from the Friends of the Hillestad Gallery. The program will be followed by a final opportunity to view the exhibition in the gallery during a reception hosted by the Friends.

The Hillestad Gallery is part of the Department of Textiles, Merchandising & Fashion Design in the UNL College of Education and Human Sciences. The gallery is on the second floor of the Human Sciences Building on East Campus, on 35th Street north of East Campus Loop (map at http://go.unl.edu/j5v). Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday and by appointment. Admission is free. Guest parking is available near the building and metered stalls are located in the Nebraska East Union lot.
