New video explains Males’ math research

In the past six months, Lorraine Males, assistant professor in Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education, has received two grants to study teacher education materials in mathematics. The larger of the two, a $630,000 award from the National Science Foundation’s Early Career Development Program, will fund her research for five years. This week, the Office of Research and Economic Development at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln released a new video highlighting Males’ research.

One of the approaches Males is using in her research is eye-tracking technology that records how teacher preparation students use textbooks and other materials. The technology was provided by her $50,000 grant from CPM Educational Program Research Grants for Mathematics Education. CPM is a textbook publisher.
