After earning her MA in Textile History at UNL in 2003, Janneken Smucker continued her graduate studies at the University of Delaware in the Program in the History of American Civilization. She graduated with her PhD in 2010, completing her dissertation, “From Rags to Riches: Amish Quilts and the Crafting of Value,” which explored these textiles and the people who made, bought, sold, collected, cherished, and neglected them during the second half of the twentieth century. Janneken lives in Philadelphia, PA, where she is working as a content specialist for Night Kitchen Interactive, a design company specializing in interactive exhibitions and museum websites.
