The annual conference of the International Textile and Apparel Association hosts a design competition open to ITAA members and their students, and this year's competition exhibition, held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Bellevue, Washington, wll feature the work of four TCD majors.

"Modern Warrior" by Sandra Starkey, "Carnevale di Venezia" by Melissa Caldwell, "Serpent Woman" by Erica White, and "Prehistoric Environmental Camouflage" by Tacia Booton were chosen by the ITAA jury to be shown in this year's conference exhibition. Dr. Barbara Trout, apparel design professor and advisor to apparel design graduate students, cites the students' "ability to think out of the box" and to apply "inventive strategies to challenging design problems" as reasons why TCD majors consistently make the cut at ITAA.

Congratulations to these ITAA exhibitors, to Dr. Trout for the acceptance of her paper on international exchange entitled "International Programming Links Design and Entrepreneurship to Students and Community," and to Senior Lecturer Carol Easley on the acceptance of her pre-conference workshop "On-demand Presentations: What, Why, How!" The ITAA conference takes place in Washington state from October 28 - 31, 2009.
