TMFD to join National Retail Federation Foundation's University Partners

26 Mar 2013

NRFF Student Association Ambassador Anna Keiser (l.) and Ambassador-elect Shelby Tucker (r.)

The Department of Textiles, Merchandising & Fashion Design is in the process of becoming a National Retail Federation Foundation University Partner, and the TMFD faculty have chosen Anna Keiser as TMFD's first NRFF Student Association Ambassador. Anna's concentration is Merchandising, and she will be a Senior in the 2013 – 14 academic year, during which time she'll represent TMFD to the NRFF and vice versa. Congratulations Anna! The faculty also chose Shelby Tucker as Ambassador-elect. Shelby will work with Anna until Anna completes her B.S.  program, at which point Shelby will become the next NRFF Student Association Ambassador.

The student ambassador's role is to act as a liaison between the NRFF and the student body, mainly social networking information, providing links, passing along announcements/messages, paying attention to the NRFF student newsletter, and spotlighting items of interest via social media. This is a relatively new organization and TMFD is very excited about providing a bridge between the NRF and our undergraduate and graduate students.

The NRF Foundation currently partners with 25 universities on a program that promotes careers in retail and provides students exclusive access to retail industry research, educational events, networking opportunities, and scholarships. The NRF Foundation’s College and University Partners are the key educators building retail’s emerging leaders. By partnering with the NRF Foundation, schools have access to developments and research in the industry and prominent connections with the NRF Foundation’s Employer Partners.
