Disciplinary/Termination Procedures

Compliance with University of Nebraska-Lincoln and affiliating institution policies will be required by the dietetic intern.  Failure to comply with these policies may result in the intern being placed on probation or being terminated from the program.

Infractions of affiliating institution policies will result in the intern being notified verbally and in writing by the Director of the Dietetic Internship Program.  A formal meeting with the Director of the Dietetic Internship Program and the dietitian in the affiliating institution will be scheduled to address the infraction.  Documentation of the infraction and the meeting will be placed in the interns file as a permanent record.  Depending upon the infraction, and as deemed necessary the Director of the Internship may consider probation or termination for the intern based on policies and guidelines outlined in the University of Nebraska Graduate Studies bulletin which can be accessed at http://go.unl.edu/gradcatalog and specifically at https://catalog.unl.edu/graduate-professional/graduate/general/conduct/.  Examples of policy infractions include but are not limited to: failure to meet academic/internship requirements, failure to pay tuition/fees, breech of patient or facility confidentiality, unethical behavior, substance abuse, and violent behavior.

The procedures related to probation and termination can be found at https://catalog.unl.edu/graduate-professional/graduate/degrees/guidelines-for-academic-actions/.
