Brief Biography

Shannon Binkley is beginning her 8th year serving as a
middle level science teacher in northeast Lincoln, Nebraska. She also serves
as the Publications teacher; yearbook advisor; and sponsors several clubs
including Roads Rails and Race Cars, Science Olympiad, Science Fair, and Film
Club. She received her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from
Brigham Young University and her Masters of Education Curriculum and
Instruction from Doane University and is certified Elementary Education K-6
with a middle level (4-9) endorsement in science and social studies. Shannon
also serves as the school multicultural liaison and school equity committee
leader. She has helped multiple pre-service and currently serving teachers
find and utilize technologies to improve learning experiences for students.
Shannon and her husband are parents to two "adult" daughters and three dogs.
In her "free" time, Shannon likes hang out with family and friends watching
movies and playing games, reading books, and journaling/scrapbooking!


Research Interests

Shannon is highly interested in utilizing artificial
intelligence to adapt literacy materials for a variety of reading levels
within science classrooms. Additionally, Shannon wants to increase social
justice through education and student instruction embedded in science
lessons. She is also interested in developing artificial intelligence
strategies to help teachers be more efficient.

Shannon has presented at the several
state conferences, and written a few journal articles.
