FUTURE TENSE: 2023 Textiles and Fiber Art Juried Exhibition
Thursday, February 23, 2023 to Sunday, April 23, 2023
FUTURE TENSE 2023 will celebrate the creative work of student artists, designers, and makers working with or inspired by fiber or textile materials or techniques. FUTURE TENSE 2023 offers a glimpse into the future of contemporary fibers by presenting the very best work being made by students in the field today.
FUTURE TENSE was juried by Natalie Baxter, MFA. Her work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, universities, and fairs internationally with recent shows at Denny Dimin Gallery in both New York and Hong Kong, The New York Historical Society, the Torrance Art Museum in California, and Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm. She has been an artist in residency at the Wassaic Project, Stove Works, a fellowship recipient at the Vermont Studio Center, an IASPIS grant recipient at Konstepidemin in Gothenburg, Sweden, and was twice awarded the Queens Art Fund Grant. Press for Baxter’s work includes The New York Times, The New Yorker, Hyperallergic, The Guardian, and BOMB magazine.
Join us on March 29th for a virtual walkthrough and discussion of the exhibition with the gallery director, Michael Burton, this year’s juror, Natalie Baxter, and exhibition award winners. FUTURE TENSE is a juried exhibtion in partnership with the Surface Design Association.
