A Multi-Case Examination of Leadership Development Programs for Emerging Educational Leaders in K-12 School Districts

Jason Thomsen has successfully defended his doctoral dissertation titled “A Multi-Case Examination of Leadership Development Programs for Emerging Educational Leaders in K-12 School Districts,” as part of the Educational Administration, Educational Leadership and Higher Education Doctor of Philosophy program in the Department of Educational Administration in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Thomsen is a native of Lincoln, Nebraska.
 
This multi-case study closely examined how large, K-12, public, school districts in the Midwest utilize various forms of leadership development programs and the role that these play in the development of educational leaders. Deep analysis was conducted on formal leadership development programs that exist in case school districts and common elements of these programs were identified. In addition, the study aimed to examine how and why K-12 school districts make decisions regarding the various forms of leadership development programs that are utilized.

Thomsen’s advisor was Marilyn Grady, emeritus professor at Nebraska.
