Meet a Husker: Olivia DeBrie

Meet Olivia Debrie, an elementary education major from Lincoln, Nebraska. Olivia graduated from CEHS in December 2023.

Why did you choose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I grew up in Lincoln and saw the amazing atmosphere of UNL and all of the wonderful athletes, and I knew I wanted to be part of it. I always wanted to be a Husker!

What activities and organizations are you involved in on campus?

I was not part of any activities or organizations, but I spent a lot of my time on campus with friends, as well as attending athletic events.

What has been your favorite class so far and why?

I'd have to say my favorite class was definitely CYAF 482A. This was an abroad program, and it is a class and experience that I will never forget. I learned so much about education in New Zealand and have been able to carry it into my classroom experience! It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

What are your career goals?

I am graduating in December with my degree in elementary education and have signed a contract with Lincoln Public Schools. I accepted a mid-year position in PE, but the goal is to be back in a classroom!
