Qin de Qing exhibit through June 3

Associate Professor Qin de Qing ("Gina"), Vice Dean in the Department of Textile and Fashion Design at Qingdao University in China, is nearing the end of a semester-long residency in TCD. A reception in her honor is scheduled for her May 24, 4 - 6 p.m. in the Rotunda Gallery of the Nebraska Union. Some of her work, completed in TCD this semester, will be on display until June 3 in the Rotunda.

Professor Qin's research and creative work emphasizes fiber art and the transformation of specific fabrics into 3-D structural forms. Gina's work combines art and technology, fiber and metals, tradition and innovation.

Professor Qin is working with Professor Wendy Weiss in TCD's surface design studios, and had the opportunity to work with other faculty and with students throughout the semester. Professor Qin de Qing's visit reflects TCD's continuing objective to build strong relationships with Asian nations, the locus of much textile and apparel production and distribution.
