Meet a Husker: Peyton Nevil

25 Mar 2024

Meet Peyton Nevil, a senior from Cody, Wyoming, who is majoring in athletic training.

Why did you choose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

Nebraska athletics places a huge emphasis on women's sports and as I knew I wanted to get my degree in athletic training and hopefully work with female sports for the majority of my career, it was great to have somewhere I could learn in that type of environment. As the only person in my family to ever come to Nebraska, it had a little bit of everything I needed like cold winters, challenging courses and great teachers.

What activities and organizations are you involved in on campus?

I have been an active Athletic Training Student Association (ATSA) member for the past three years. During my sophomore and junior years, I worked with the Iron N, the student section organization that leads the student section at all football, basketball and volleyball games.

What has been your favorite class so far and why?

My favorite class would either have to be my Intro to Czech, as I love to learn new languages, or the evaluation class that we take as part of the athletic training program where we learn to evaluate orthopedic injuries and being able to identify bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and organs via palpation. Evaluation might be the hardest class in our program but it was also the class that gave me the most amount of tools to use when at clinical.

What are your career goals?

Once I graduate this spring, I will start working toward getting a career in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) or in professional volleyball.
