The department of Child, Youth and Family Studies (CYAF) is housed on two campuses: East and City.


Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall

Home to the Department office of Child, Youth and Family Studies and the office of the College of Education and Human Sciences, Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall is located on the UNL City Campus. The building is located on North 14th Street across Cook Pavilion and Pershing Military and Naval Science Building. Many of the CYAF faculty are housed in Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall.

Family Resource Center

The Family Resource Center is an award-winning, non-profit facility where mental health counseling is provided for individuals, couples, and families. The Family Resource Center is located on East Campus at the intersection of East Campus Loop and 35th Street. The Marriage and Family Therapy faculty have their offices in the Family Resource Center. Mental health counseling is provided by graduate students in the Marriage and Family Therapy programs. Ruth Staples Child Development Laboratory

The Ruth Staples Child Development Laboratory (CDL) is a nationally accredited (NAEYC) child care program that offers childcare services for children 2 1/2 through 5 years old. Child, Youth and Family students complete practicum hours and early childhood education student teaching requirements at the Child Development Lab. The CDL also houses one CYAF staff member and four faculty members. The Ruth Staples Child Development Laboratory is located just a few blocks north of Holdrege Street on the west (left) side of 35th Street. For more information about the CDL please   click here.
