Christine Kiewra Assistant Professor of Practice

Christine Kiewra is an assistant professor of practice at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the Department of Child, Youth, and Family Studies; a core faculty member in the Child Development/Early Childhood Education program; and the Faculty Coordinator for the Great Plains IDEA Early Childhood Education in a Mobile Society program. She teaches courses including Development in the Preschool Child, Assessment in Early Childhood, Curriculum Planning in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Coaching Practicum, and Human Lifespan Development.

Kiewra has over 25 years of experience in early childhood care and education; teaching in the classroom, collaborating with families, providing professional development for teachers, and co-directing a non-profit early education program. Kiewra's professional interests and scholarly activity include serving as a World Forum Foundation Global Leader for Young Children, feature editor of Exchange Magazine: Bridging Research and Practice, Consulting Editor for the International Journal of Early Childhood Environmental Education, and Board Member of the Dimensions Educational Research Foundation.

With a love for nature, when Professor Kiewra isn't working, she enjoys almost anything outdoors; walking, biking, hiking, and working in her yard. Her summers are filled with outdoor adventures with her husband and 3 adult children.
