Dr. Clariebelle Gabas is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Child, Youth, and Family Studies at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL). Her research focuses on children's language and literacy development, with a particular emphasis on early writing skills among culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
At UNL, Dr. Gabas contributes to the Educare Evaluation Project, serving as a Local Evaluation Partner for Educare of Lincoln. This initiative aims to enhance early childhood education and family support services to ensure children's success throughout their lives.
Dr. Gabas is also a member of the Leveraging Early Education: Advancing Research in Nebraska (LEARN) team, collaborating with colleagues to advance research in early childhood education.
Her scholarly work includes co-authoring articles such as "Making Mistakes: Children’s Errors as Opportunities for Emergent Literacy Learning in Early Childhood," published in The Reading Teacher, and "Patterns of Classroom Organization in Classrooms Where Children Exhibit Higher and Lower Language Gains," featured in Early Education and Development.
Dr. Gabas holds a Ph.D. and is a certified speech-language pathologist (CCC-SLP). Her academic and professional endeavors are dedicated to improving educational outcomes for young children, particularly those from diverse backgrounds.
