QQPM

• All students pursuing a minor in our programs must have a faculty member from their respective program as a representative on their Supervisory Committee.

• Please choose one of the two focus areas below.

• The doctorate level minor in QQPM consists of 15 credit hours of courses in Educational Psychology. These fifteen hours must be from one of the foci listed below. In addition, at least six of these credit hours must be in courses open exclusively to graduate students (900 level or 800 level without 400 level or lower counterparts) and the student’s supervisory committee must include a QQPM faculty member.

• Available to students inside and outside of the Department of Educational Psychology.

• Must earn a B or better in all courses for the Minor

• Only one course substitution is allowed.

• Students are only allowed to obtain one minor within the Department of Educational Psychology.

Developmental & Learning Sciences

The Masters Level minor in Developmental & Learning Sciences consists of 12 credit hours of DLS courses in Educational Psychology. These twelve hours must be from the courses listed below, with at least one course from each of these three areas: Social and Emotional Development, Learning and Instruction, and Educational Neuroscience.

The Doctorate Level minor in Developmental & Learning Sciences consists of 15 credit hours of DLS courses in Educational Psychology. These fifteen hours must be from the courses listed below, with at least one course from each of these three areas: Social and Emotional Development, Learning and Instruction, and Educational Neuroscience. Educational Psychology

In addition to the prescribed number of hours the student’s supervisory committee must include an Educational Psychology faculty member. Twelve of the fifteen hours must conform to the directions below. At least six of these credit hours must be in courses open exclusively to graduate students (900 level or 800 level without 400 level counterpart). The fifth course will be chosen in consultation with the Educational Psychology faculty committee member.

• All students pursuing a minor in our programs must have a faculty member from their respective program as a representative on their Supervisory Committee.

• Must earn a B or better in all courses for the Minor

• Students are only allowed to obtain one minor within the Department of Educational Psychology.

• Courses outside the Department of Educational Psychology cannot be substituted for any of the EDPS courses.

Positive Psychology and Wellbeing

• The Positive Psychology and Wellbeing minor is relevant for students interested in pursuing careers in counseling psychology, school psychology, and clinical psychology.

• Positive psychology principles and applications are relevant for many careers (e.g., business; journalism) because the minor offers studies in the human spirit and motivation.

• Students can personally benefit from skills and knowledge that contribute to the enhancement of their mental health and psychological growth.

• The minor forwards the view that the promotion of wellbeing is accomplished by developing strengths and assets.

• Positive psychology knowledge and skills are applicable to any type of human endeavor (e.g., business, research, applied psychology) oriented to the promotion of motivation and growth.

• The minor was developed to foster more interest in happiness, wellbeing, and growth in psychology (i.e., flourishing) to prevent unhappiness and mental illness (i.e., floundering).

• The minor provides knowledge and skills for students entering any profession in which human interaction and social relationships are fostered.

• Up to six credits can be transferred to satisfy the requirements of the minor
