Two HRTM Professors Receive Awards at Central CHRIE Conference in Indianapolis

Dipra Jha, Associate Professor of Practice for HRTM, has been awarded the 2019 Outstanding Teaching Achievement Award by the Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (CHRIE) Central Federation. Kristin Malek, Assistant Professor for HRTM, was awarded 1st place in the Thinkathon Industry Challenge. The topic for the industry challenge was artificial intelligence in hospitality. The awards were presented at the Central CHRIE conference in Indianapolis earlier this month.

The Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia is considered by many to be the pinnacle of professional golf. For the fourth year in a row, students and their professor from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM) program will be working with members, patrons, and staff at Augusta National Golf Club for the 2019 Masters Tournament.

And the Winners of the CEHS Staff Open is...

It was a close vote but the winning hole, based on votes from participants, is the City Campus Business Team and Dean’s Office in Louise Pound Hall. This hole featured a two-story challenge with a money tree! Monopoly money hung from a tree, but there were more labels with dollar signs wrapped around cans and food packages. The cans and food were then donated to the Huskers Pantry.

Farazi Receives UNMC College of Public Health Faculty Research Award 2019

Evi Farazi, Ph.D., UNMC Assistant Professor of Epidemiology was awarded the College of Public Health Faculty Research Award for improving cancer prevention and control through basic and translational science-based research that aims at a better understanding of cancer incidence patterns and how lifestyle modifiable factors such as diet contribute to cancer as well as a better understanding of different populations’ awareness, attitudes and needs regarding cancer and screening.
