The end of the semester also is the start of the study abroad season for CEHS!

While one of our programs has already been to Greece and back, some of the other departments are gearing up and getting ready to take studies overseas. Here is a rundown of all of the study abroad activity coming up this summer!

UNL-Tabitha Memory Workshop

Memory workshop summer session begins June 12 at Barkley Center

An eight-week memory workshop led by speech-language pathologists and graduate speech-language pathology students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln begins June 12 at the Barkley Memorial Center on East Campus.

Dr. Jean Haar Selected as Recipient of 2019 University of Nebraska-Lincoln Educational Administration Impact Award

Dr. Jean Haar, Dean of the College of Education at Minnesota State University-Mankato and a Ph.D. alum of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Educational Administration, was recently awarded the Department’s Impact Award for her influence as an administrative leader.

The award, which is in its inaugural year, recognizes a distinguished alum of the Department who has made a significant impact in the field, communities, and organizations. Dean Haar’s professional work and accomplishments, since receipt of her doctoral degree in 2002 were the basis for her selection.

PhD Candidate Kaleb Briscoe Selected as Recipient of 2019 Educational Administration Inspiration Award

Kaleb Briscoe, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Educational Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has been awarded the Department’s inaugural Inspiration Award. The award is presented annually to a student in an Educational Administration program to recognize academic contributions, intellectual curiosity, and scholarly achievements that inspire students, staff, and faculty.

Kaleb is currently a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department, assisting faculty with teaching, research, mentoring, and other duties.

Allison Reisbig's Retirement Reception is May 13th

Allison M. J. Reisbig is retiring after over 12 years of service to the University in the Department of Child, Youth and Family Studies. Dr. Reisbig is an Associate Professor in Marriage and Family Therapy and Family Science, Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), AAMFT-Approved Supervisor, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Her retirement comes after suffering a traumatic brain injury from a car accident in 2015.

Gilmore Honored with CEHS Staff Star Award

Jenny Gilmore, Financial Coordinator for the College of Education and Human Sciences, is the most recent recipient of the Staff Star Award.

Her nominator said that Jenny brings an auditor's perspective to the CEHS business team. "She thinks about processes and procedures in a way that many do not, and can identify policy and process improvements. She does a fantastic job in asking the right questions at the right time so that college or university leadership fully think through the impact of policies or procedures."

Michaela Sullivan grows research understanding through master’s thesis option

As an undergraduate student, Michaela Sullivan completed an honors thesis with Steven Barlow as her mentor. When she began in the Master of Science program in speech-language pathology at Nebraska, it only made sense for her to choose the thesis option and continue working with Barlow.
