Jiyoung Kim named as recipient of Keystone Symposia Scholarship


Postdoctoral student Jiyoung Kim received a $1,200 Keystone Symposia Scholarship to present her research at a meeting on Obesity and Adipose Tissue Biology, Feb 15 - Feb 19, 2016, in Fairmont Banff Springs in Banff, Alberta.  Jiyoung is a student in the lab of Dr. Soonkyu Chung, Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences.

Dr. Aktar Ali, BORC Director, Joins NPOD

Dr. Aktar Ali, joined NPOD June 1, 2015, as the new director of the Biomedical and Obesity Research Core - the BORC facilities. He has eight years of experience leading the Metabolic Phenotyping Core Facility at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. His objective is to create a cutting-edge facility that serves the needs of all university faculty, as well as researchers in industry outside the university, engaged in biomedical research.

Zempleni Invited to Serve as Vice-Chair on American Society for Nutrition Committee, June 2015

On behalf of the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) members and the ASN Board of Directors, Dr. Janos Zempleni, Willa Cather Professor of Molecular Nutrition and Director of the Nebraska Center for the Prevention of Obesity Diseases, has been invited to serve as Vice-Chair on the Reviews, Papers and Guidelines Committee. Members of the committee are all nationally recognized senior scientists who are expert in subjects related to nutrition. The committee consists 7 members appointed by the president of the American Society for Nutrition.

Congratulations to Tovah Wolf!

Tovah Wolf, master’s student in the lab of Dr. Janos Zempleni, UNL Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences, was selected as a finalist to participate in a new award competition being held at American Society for Nutrition’s Scientific Sessions at the Experimental Biology Conference 2015 in Boston March 28 to April 1.

 ASN’s Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science Poster Competition was created to highlight the very best research submitted by students and young investigators to ASN’s Scientific Sessions.
