The David Farber Center for the Advancement of Suicide Prevention, Intervention, Research, and Education (The David Farber ASPIRE Center) is excited to announce two clinical postdoctoral fellowship opportunities in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis on suicide assessment and intervention. Qualified candidates will have already earned a degree in their program and be looking for clinical opportunities to fulfill licensure requirements.

The David Farber ASPIRE Center provides comprehensive, evidence-based, and family-focused treatment for individuals of all ages managing psychiatric illnesses and life challenges that increase their risk for suicidal behavior. This program provides opportunities for assessment and direct clinical work through individual psychotherapy, family therapy, and group therapy; all of which are offered in-person and through telehealth platforms. What separates the David Farber ASPIRE Center from other treatment centers is an intentional focus on family and family-based intervention. While we are able to work with individuals alone, we stress the importance of collaborating with family members throughout care. Comprehensive training in Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT), SAFETY-A/the Family Intervention for Suicide Prevention (FISP), and the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) is included for all fellows. Didactic training is conducted by national and international experts in suicide prevention and in partnership with the psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship programs at Jefferson. Opportunities to become involved in a variety of existing and independent research projects in suicide prevention are also available to interested applicants.

The David Farber ASPIRE Center is offering two 12-month fellowship positions that will begin in July 2024. Individual and group supervision will be provided. A state-of-the-art clinical wing within the center allows for live observation and supervision, where fellows can not only receive supervision but also observe supervisors and other experts conduct psychotherapy.

Funding for the fellowship program is provided by the Pennsylvania Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS). Individuals from underserved communities and those with a desire to practice in Pennsylvania after the completion of the fellowship are highly encouraged to apply. Jefferson offers a comprehensive benefits packet and paid time off.
