Northwell Health APA Accredited Postdoctoral Fellowships

Northwell Health APA Accredited Postdoctoral Fellowships

11 Dec 2023

This is a gentle reminder of the upcoming application deadline for our 2024-2025 postdoctoral fellowships in clinical child psychology at Northwell Health.  Applications can be submitted via email to MOwens1@northwell.edu or through the APPIC Centralized Application System.

This year, we are recruiting for two positions with different clinical emphasis: Adolescent Mental Health/DBT and Pediatric Health Psychology/Anxiety Disorders, with both positions anticipated to start in mid-September 2024.

The Adolescent Mental Health/DBT fellow will participate in adolescent DBT programs across both outpatient and inpatient services in an academic psychiatric hospital setting (Zucker Hillside Hospital).    Our adolescent inpatient unit is a full-adherent DBT milieu program which has generated research pertaining to DBT applications in this setting (Tebbett-Mock, et. al 2019; Saito et al., 2020; Tebbett-Mock, McGee, & Saito, 2021).  This fellow will also have the opportunity for training and experience in additional evidence-based treatment models in our child psychiatry outpatient clinic, based on the candidate’s interests.

The Pediatric Health Psychology/Anxiety Disorders position offers the unique opportunity to work in both our children’s medical hospital (Cohen Children’s Medical Center) and in the children’s outpatient department of our psychiatric hospital (Zucker Hillside Hospital).  In the child psych outpatient department, this fellow will join our specialized clinical team in anxiety disorders and OCD as the primary clinical focus with an opportunity to obtain additional experiences with other evidence-based treatments and clinical populations.

The Division is deeply committed to providing high quality clinical services as well as excellent training and supervision.  Attention is also paid to the fellow’s professional development, with potential opportunities for supervision of junior trainees, teaching, program development, research and related activities.
