Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Boston University Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders

Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Boston University Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders

23 Oct 2023

The Child and Adolescent Fear and Anxiety Treatment Program is recruiting one post-doctoral fellow to join us at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD), a large anxiety disorders treatment and research program housed within Boston University's Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. The primary mission of the Child and Adolescent Fear and Anxiety Treatment Program is to improve the lives of children and families through research, clinical service, training, and community outreach.

Post-doctoral fellows will have opportunities to be involved in ongoing research projects including "Increasing Access, Decreasing Anxiety," an RCT evaluating a novel, one week, intensive treatment for adolescent anxiety delivered via telehealth, as well as the ability to participate in manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and grant-writing. Clinical responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive diagnostic assessments using the Anxiety Disorders Interview Schedule for Children and Parents and providing clinical treatment for youth with anxiety disorders from a cognitive-behavioral therapy perspective. Post-doctoral fellows also will receive specialized training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Selective Mutism (PCIT-SM) and develop expertise in treating selective mutism in both individual and intensive group modalities. As training is an important part of CARD’s mission, post-doctoral fellows will have the opportunity to provide supervision to clinical psychology doctoral students and actively contribute to Child CARD’s didactic seminars. The position will provide post-doctoral clinical hours and the weekly supervision necessary for licensure in the state of Massachusetts.

Strong applicants will have previous experience with cognitive-behavioral therapy and treating anxiety disorders in children and adolescents. Applicants should have completed their doctoral degree by the start of employment. The position offers a competitive salary and fringe benefits as well as access to a range of BU resources. Upon completion of two post-doctoral fellowship years, promotion to either Clinical or Research Assistant Professor may be available.

The cultural and social diversity of our faculty, staff, and students is vitally important to the excellence of our research and clinical programs. Thus, we are especially eager to recruit a fellow who supports our institutional commitment to ensuring BU is inclusive, equitable, and diverse. To apply, send a curriculum vitae, letter of interest, clinical writing sample, and three letters of recommendation via email to Dr. Rachel Merson at rmerson@bu.edu. Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and the search will remain open until the position is filled.

BU is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We are a VEVRAA Federal Contractor.
