Clinicians in this center work intensively with children, parents, and teachers, often utilizing a range of evidence-based intervention approaches including Parent Management Training (PMT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).  In addition to learning evidence-based behavioral caregiver training, fellows also provide school consultation in the NY metro area and have opportunities to participate in community outreach. Programs housed within the Center include our 4-week Summer Program, a 1-day intensive behavioral skills training program called BEST, and pilot work on intensive behavioral parent training interventions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in these programs and to contribute to a dynamic, collaborative team.

The ADHD and Behavior Disorders Center of CMI offers an extraordinary opportunity for a qualified clinician to receive structured postdoctoral training in a unique, innovative academic setting.  Training focuses on the accurate diagnosis and use of evidence-based treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, and their families.  Clinical training and experiences include conducting semi-structured clinical assessments, individual and group clinical work, didactics, participating in comprehensive individual and group supervision, providing education in the community, supervision of externs (with oversight and training in providing supervision), and exposure to research.  Fellows will receive specialized training on a range of behavioral parent training approaches, cognitive-behavioral interventions, and school-based behavioral intervention and consultation methods. Fellows are further encouraged and guided to develop areas of interest and specialization.

As a component of the training experience, the post-doctoral fellow will participate in a variety of learning experiences at the Child Mind Institute.  Specifically, fellows will attend multidisciplinary case conferences and clinical meetings with center staff and attend lectures through our Visiting Professor Series, consisting of renowned experts in mental health. Fellows will also be given the opportunity to give presentations at schools and local community organizations. Additionally, there will be opportunities to collaborate with website writers on specific topics for the Child Mind Institute website and with other services within the Child Mind Institute.
