The Lorenz Clinic Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship in Couple and Family Psychology is seeking applications for multiple placements for the 2024-2025 academic year. It is an APPIC-listed, 1-year, full-time clinical position that prepares trainees for licensure as a psychologist in Minnesota. About Lorenz Clinic
Lorenz Clinic of Family Psychology is a multi-disciplinary psychotherapy clinic serving the unique mental health needs of children, adults, families, and couples. Our APPIC Postdoctoral Fellowship membership was obtained with a focus within the specialty of Couple and Family Psychology. Lorenz Clinic is proud to host one of the few national Couple and Family Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowships. Fellows work in one of our Twin Cities, Minnesota metro area clinics in Victoria, Chaska, Prior Lake, Wayzata, or Rosemount, all located within miles of Minneapolis-St. Paul.
The placement starts in late-August each year and requires a full-time, year-long commitment for 2000 training hours, which is designed to meet the requirements for licensure as a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Minnesota. Fellows function in an applied, clinical role in one of our outpatient clinics. Direct client contact includes the provision of individual, couples, and family psychotherapy and contextually-informed psychological assessment (if testing is a learning goal). The fellowship program involves some required components, but allows for flexibility to tailor the experience to the fellow’s interests. For example, fellows may supervise practicum students and may do an optional integrated care rotation in a rural hospital setting and participate on our social equity committee.
Supervision and Training Experiences
Fellows receive extensive training in Couple and Family Psychology through two weekly hours of individual supervision. They participate in monthly seminars addressing topics of couples therapy; assessment; supervision of supervision; and professional development issues (e.g., EPPP, professional development). They also receive additional training from grand rounds, case consultation, group supervision, didactics, and the annual conference.
We have a broad array of licensed psychologists who participate in the training program, offering fellows the ability to learn from experts in different areas. We have specific supervisors who are passionate about supervising and whose specific duties include expanding and continuously improving our training program. The clinic also employs a Board Certified Psychologist in Couple and Family Psychology, reflective of our program’s national reputation and expertise in this area.
Application Process
Eligibility:
· Applicants must have a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited graduate program or have completed an APPIC-member doctoral internship.
· Candidates with training and experience working with couples and families are especially encouraged to apply.
· Applicants are pre-licensed clinicians who are accumulating post-degree supervised work for licensure within a structured and vibrant clinical training program. The position is designed to be a one-year, temporary training placement.
· Bilingual/Bicultural applicants are encouraged to apply and may receive additional supervision in cultural competency or supervision in a second language if conducting therapy in that language.

Note: All postdoc offers are contingent upon successful completion of reference checks, I9, and background checks including Minnesota Statute 148.01 “Minnesota Sexual Exploitation Act.” This statute requires Lorenz Clinic contact employers from at least the last five years to determine whether any sexual exploitation of clients has occurred. Applicants who do not successfully pass these background checks will be dismissed from the placement.
