06 Nov 2023

The Pediatric Behavioral Medicine Program in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston announces the availability of a one-year post-doctoral fellowship. Our nationally recognized department provides care and consultation for both in- and outpatients with co-morbid medical and psychiatric conditions.

The fellowship is a one year, full-time clinically focused training experience. The fellow will provide ongoing psychotherapy/evidenced based treatment in the Outpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic for medically ill youth typically referred by general pediatric, gastroenterology, food allergy, feeding, endocrine/diabetes and neurology programs for issues related to adherence, procedural anxiety and adjustment to diagnosis.  The fellow will also receive specialized training in behavioral sleep medicine with a portion of their outpatient caseload dedicated to providing consultation and care to patients referred from the MassGeneral for Children Pediatric Sleep Disorders Program. The fellow will participate as an embedded provider in several additional multidisciplinary pediatric medical clinics including toileting and feeding. There may also be opportunities to provide consultation and brief assessment and intervention within our Pediatric Integrated Primary Care Program (IPC), and for the fellow to work with the MGH Child Resiliency Program. In addition, the fellowship includes a half-day of protected mentored research time. A rich array of didactic training opportunities is available through the Departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics.

Fellows hold clinical appointments in the MGH Department of Psychiatry and academic appointments in the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry. Salary and fringe benefits are competitive. Preferred start date is July 1, 2024, with consideration given to September 1, 2024.

Qualifications for the position include a PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited graduate program and an APA-accredited pre-doctoral clinical internship site, preferably in pediatric or clinical child psychology. Applicants must have experience conducting therapy with children, adolescents and families. Applications will be processed on a rolling basis beginning immediately with a deadline of December 15, 2023. Interviews will be conducted virtually in January 2024 and will be offered to competitive candidates. To apply, please submit a detailed letter of interest, CV, copy of certified transcript of doctoral work, and letters of recommendation from three professional references to: Diana Harrington, practice manager, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, at djharrington@mgh.harvard.edu
