The Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CUCARD) is excited to offer postdoctoral fellowship opportunities at our Manhattan and Westchester offices. These are separate positions; applicants can apply to both positions and must send separate applications. Please see below for details of each position: 

 

Postdoctoral Fellowship: Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CUCARD) 

3 Columbus Circle, New York, NY 

 

Position Description: Clinical postdoctoral fellowships are anticipated to start between July 1 and Sept 1, 2023 at CUCARD's Manhattan office. Primary responsibilities include conducting diagnostic/intake evaluations and individual, family and group psychotherapy utilizing empirically supported treatments. School evaluations, treatment planning and consultation, and behavioral programming are also conducted as needed. The postdoctoral fellow will be supervised by our licensed faculty, will conduct group therapies with our psychologists, and will be mentored individually and by the collective group. Part of Columbia University’s Department of Psychiatry, CUCARD is comprised of a highly energetic, vibrant, and fun group of clinical psychologists and clinical social workers who all have expertise in treating anxiety, OCD, mood and behavioral disorders. The clinic founder is Anne Marie Albano, PhD, ABPP, and clinical director is Anthony Puliafico, PhD. Post-doctoral fellows will have the opportunity to participate in group supervision and team meetings with members of the ABC Early Childhood Program and, depending on interest and availability, may treat children aged 2-7 using PCIT and behavioral parent training through the ABC Program. Participation in ABCT and APA's Division 53 will be encouraged. Opportunities for teaching, publishing, and professional presentations are also made available.  

 

Qualifications: Applicants should have a strong background in CBT and experience evaluating children, adolescents or adults using the ADIS interviews and treating patients across the anxiety disorders spectrum and including OCD. Experience with The Coping Cat and related empirically supported treatments, and also those with a focus on adolescents making the transition to adulthood will strengthen an application. Qualified applicants should hold a PhD or PsyD from an APA-approved clinical psychology program, with completion of an APA approved internship.

Clinical Postdoctoral Fellowship - Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CUCARD) - Westchester 

  

155 White Plains Road, Tarrytown, NY 

Position Description: We are accepting applications for a clinical postdoctoral fellowship at CUCARD Westchester beginning in September 2023. Affiliated with the Child and Adolescent Division of Columbia University’s Psychiatry Department, CUCARD Westchester specializes in evidence-based clinical services for anxiety and related disorders in children, adolescents and young adults. The position will provide advanced training and supervision in the assessment and cognitive-behavioral treatment of anxiety, OCD, and related difficulties within an academic faculty practice setting. The postdoctoral fellow will provide individual and group therapy through our outpatient service as well as through CUCARD Westchester's Anxiety Day Program (www.columbiadoctors.org/childrens-health/anxietydayprogram), which offers intensive treatment for adolescents whose anxiety symptoms are severely limiting their ability to attend school or function in other settings. There will be opportunities to collaborate with faculty on presentations and consultation services in the local community, as well as other clinical and academic activities. The fellow will receive weekly supervision and will attend didactic seminars both at CUCARD Westchester and within Columbia University’s Department of Psychiatry.  

 

Qualifications: Applicants must have received a Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree from an APA-accredited institution and have completed an APA-approved internship. Applicants should have experience providing cognitive-behavioral treatment for anxiety disorders, and particularly exposure-based interventions, as well as considerable experience in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents.
