11 Dec 2023

One full-time School-based Integrated Primary Care postdoctoral fellowship position and one full-time Parent-Child Interaction Therapy postdoctoral fellowship are available at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine for the 2024-2025 training year.

About the School Health Initiative

Housed within the Mailman Center for Child Development at the University of Miami School of Medicine, the School Health Initiative (SHI) is a project designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services to children in some of Miami’s severely under-resourced communities. SHI now operates in nine schools, providing care to over 12,000 children per year, regardless of their ability to pay. We offer free primary health care and mental health services to students on site and facilitate access to specialists at the University of Miami.

The School Health Initiative also has a research arm, most recently with an NIH RADx-UP funded study about the impact of COVID-19 on our school communities. We are also in year 2 of randomized control trial of U-PEACE (Unified Protocol for Preventing Emotional and Academic Challenges in Education) funded by the Institute for Educational Sciences. Upcoming research opportunities include a student champion program, rooted in youth empowerment and participatory action research.
