We are excited to share that the Section on Pediatric Psychology at UAMS is recruiting 3 Post-Doctoral Psychology Fellowship positions for the 2024-2025 year. The positions start on September 1stA red banner with white text

  • Two positions have a specific focus on pediatric psychology and are based at the Little Rock campus.
  • The third position, centered on clinical child psychology, is situated in Springdale, AR, just three hours north of Little Rock. It is also conveniently situated only 15 minutes away from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR, which boasts a beautiful and lively college campus and is home to the Razorbacks. 

 

Our training program provides a diverse range of in-person and virtual clinical and educational opportunities, with a focus on independent practice in pediatric psychology. This includes assessment and treatment of individuals coping with various medical and developmental disorders, interdisciplinary and collaborative care, telehealth, and advocacy- all with a commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Fellows will be able to participate in all interdisciplinary LEND training activities as well.

 

2 Pediatric Psychology Fellowship Positions- Little Rock, Arkansas

The Section of Pediatric Psychology is offering two, 1-year post-doctoral fellowship positions. This location is home to 10 pediatric psychologists.

 

Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH):

  • Approximately 60% of the fellow’s time will be dedicated to various outpatient medical clinics, including Cardiology, CPAP Adherence, GI, High-Risk Newborn, Hearing Impairment, Weight Management, Nephrology, and Sleep clinics.
  • Coverage of the Inpatient Consultation/Liaison Service for all of ACH.
  • Opportunities for experiences in developmental disabilities, medical crisis and loss, and research.
  • Emphasis on patient-family centered care, with involvement in patient and family-led initiatives and a comprehensive Family Engagement Center.

  

J.L. Dennis Developmental Center (DDC):

  • The remaining 20% of the fellow’s time will be dedicated to the DDC, an outpatient interdisciplinary evaluation and treatment center.
  • Involvement in psychoeducational assessment, autism spectrum disorders, behavioral assessment, multidisciplinary team assessment, and psychotherapy.

 

 

1 Clinical Child Psychology Fellowship Position- Springdale, Arkansas

The Section of Pediatric Psychology is offering one, 1-year post-doctoral fellowship position. This center is staffed by 5 psychologists, including two pediatric psychologists and three pediatric neuropsychologists.

 

Schmieding Developmental Center (SDC):

  • 100% of the fellow’s clinical time will be at SDC, an outpatient interdisciplinary evaluation and treatment center.
  • Focus on neurodevelopmental assessments, with an emphasis on autism evaluations, multidisciplinary autism team assessments, complex learning problems, psychotherapy, and group therapy for individuals from birth through 18 years of age.
  • Opportunity to participate in hierarchical supervision of graduate-level psychology practicum student training.
  • Involvement in program development and quality improvement research.
  • Opportunities to support interdisciplinary clinics on the Little Rock campus via telehealth sessions and participate in UAMS and AC virtual didactics and trainings.

Requirements/Qualifications: All applicants must have completed: 

  • Doctoral degree in clinical, school, or counseling psychology from an APA or CPA-accredited institution, including successful dissertation defense before commencing the fellowship. 
  • Completion of an APA or CPA-accredited internship. 
  • Strong foundation in psychological testing and assessment. 
  • Experience or interest in working with school-age patients and their families.

UAMS Fellowship Website

 

Stipend: $48,000 with a $2,500 e-fund for professional expenses (e.g., conference fees, books).

Benefits: Fellows have access to the UAMS health insurance plan, covering vision and dental, short and long-term disability, and retirement planning. Additionally, UAMS provides 11 paid holidays, and Fellows accumulate 22 vacation days and 10 sick days. Refer to UAMS HR for further details.

Virtual Interviews conducted via Zoom with on-site visits will be available after the APPIC Common Hold Date (CHD 2/26/24). Early applicants will be notified by December 15 and later applicants will be notified within 2 weeks of receipt of a completed application if they received an interview.
