Our teacher education program is one of the best. While there is no secret to what we do, our program is distinctive.
The Department of Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education (TLTE) is committed to the preparation and development of educators across the profession. Our programs aim to support prospective and practicing educators as they build on their own experiences and further develop their professional identities. We engage students in informed conversations about concrete teaching and learning issues and provide opportunities for students to consider wise judgments regarding the complex issues educators face today.
The department of TLTE offers more subject area specializations than any other post-secondary institution in Nebraska. These specializations allow us to provide 38 endorsements in elementary, middle level, or secondary education.
NEW! Master of Arts in Elementary Teaching A 14 month, 44 credit hour program that will lead to an M.A. and certification in elementary education in the state of Nebraska. Begins in the Summer Pre-Session, 2009.

We offer customizable graduate programs that can help extend your professional knowledge and skills. Many of our courses are offered in online formats for additional flexibility.
Do you need to renew your teaching certification?
Students needing to renew a Nebraska teaching certificate through completion of 6 or 15 hours of course work can typically do so at an accredited teacher education institution like UNL. Remember that any graduate courses offered by TLTE (except for practicum hours) can be applied to a 6-hour certificate renewal.
