I am an early childhood educator and faculty member at the Ruth Staples Child Development Laboratory, where I work in partnership with young children, families, and university students in a nationally accredited lab school setting. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences with an endorsement in Inclusive Early Childhood Education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2016. My professional background includes experience as an early educator and kindergarten teacher with Lincoln Public Schools.
My work is centered on creating a responsive, inclusive classroom environment while supporting the professional growth of pre-service teachers. As a mentor teacher, I guide university students through practicum and field experiences by modeling developmentally appropriate practice, engaging in reflection, and collaborating alongside them in the classroom. I value the shared learning that occurs when children, families, and future educators learn together in an authentic lab school setting.
My connection to the Ruth Staples Child Development Laboratory began during my student teaching at UNL, and I officially joined the team in 2021. I value the Lab School’s role as a collaborative learning community where children’s learning, family engagement, and professional preparation are deeply interconnected.
Originally from the Lincoln area, I graduated from Norris High School and now live in the community with my husband, Chris, and our three sons, Charlie, Grayson, and Sonny. Outside of my professional work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching sports, and traveling—especially to warm destinations near the water.
