If you would like to know more about the study, please email the study contact person listed. Please read the study description and eligibility criteria carefully to find out if you qualify. Educational Psychology Student Survey


Description:  A survey study focusing on student beliefs about learning, personality characteristics and course impressions. Students complete the study on their personal computers. Students may complete the survey to earn course credit without consenting to the use of their data.

Estimated Duration:  Up to 2 Hours

Eligibity:  Any student in one or more Educational Psychology courses

Credit/Compensation:  All required course credits

Opinions about gender survey


Description: Do you have opinions about gender? My name is Jake Vargas and I’m doing research about how UNL students think about gender and how this influences other thoughts and feelings they have. You are eligible to participate in this study if a) are between 19-25 years old, b) are a resident of the U.S., and c) identify with the sex you were assigned at birth (i.e., are cisgender). Rights-based adult sexuality education curriculum for college students


Description: We would appreciate your participation in our study! You are invited to complete a 15- to 20- minute online survey about your sexual attitudes and sexuality. Your responses will determine whether you are eligible to participate in a 6-week (one hour per week) sexuality education course we are providing in Summer or Fall 2023. The study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at University of Nebraska – Lincoln (#22118)

Estimated duration: The survey to see if you are eligible to participate will take 15-20 minutes to complete. If you are selected to participate in the intervention, you will attend (6) one-hour meetings over the course of 6 weeks and then complete one more set of surveys (15-20 minutes). Others who are selected to participate will only complete a second set of surveys (15-20 minutes) in Summer or Fall 2023.   

Eligibility: You are eligible if you meet the following criteria:

  • A current UNL undergraduate student
  • Identify as a woman, femme, or transfeminine person
  • Between 19 and 35 years of age
  • Sexually active (individually or partnered)

Credit/Compensation: Participants invited to participate in the course will receive $120.00 in the form of an electronic Amazon.com gift card. Other participants will be asked to complete the survey measures one more time in Summer or Fall 2023 and will be compensated $20.00 in the form of an electronic Amazon.com gift card. Compensation will be provided after all data is collected (no later than December 2023).  This study does not provide educational psychology course credits as compensation.

Perceptions of College Campus Climate Among Queer Female Sexual Assault Survivors


Description: I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and I am conducting a study on queer female college students who have been sexually assaulted during their time in college.

Estimated Duration: 10-minute demographics survey to determine eligibility to participate in a 30–60-minute interview

Eligibility: You are eligible to participate in this study if you are:

  • A cisgender woman 
  • Identify your sexual orientation as queer (e.g., bisexual, lesbian, pansexual, etc.) 
  • Currently enrolled as a student at a college or university in the U.S. 
  • A current U.S. resident 
  • Have experienced sexual assault (e.g., rape, non-consensual touching, coercion) during your time in college        

Credit/Compensation: Eligible participants who complete a 30- 60-minute interview will be compensated with a $25.00 Amazon electronic gift card.

@SocialThatSupports Evaluation Study: Understanding Mental Health and Social Supports during COVID-19


Description: With the COVID-19 pandemic, the lives and experiences of individuals changed internationally. Around the world, various cultural forces shaped each country's response to the pandemic, subjecting otherwise healthy individuals to varying levels of uncertainty, change, and adaptation. You are invited to participate in this 35-minute online survey on understanding how the impacts from COVID-19 on your health, economic stability, and mental health are still affecting you. Print or take a snapshot of the screen to submit for your credits. 

Estimated duration: This is a one time study. It is estimated that the study should take about 35 minutes.

GOALS IN COUNSELING STUDY


Description: This study is designed to explore how setting a goal in psychotherapy affects clients' experiences. This is a survey study in which you will be asked to imagine yourself as a client in counseling and complete several measures related to your well-being. HEART RATE VARIABILITY AS A PREDICTOR OF MENTAL HEALTH

Description: Researchers in the Department of Educational Psychology are looking at heart-rate variability in college-aged students and how this variability relations to student’s ability to regulate emotions. You will be asked to come into our lab and complete some tasks on the computer and surveys about your emotions and wellbeing. While doing this, you will wear a small fNIRS (blood oxygen) sensor on your head and an Empatica wrist watch to measure heart rate variability and oxygenated blood flow. Social distancing and safety protocols will be strictly enforced. 

 Eligibility: UNL students 19-25 years old

 Total time: Up to 2 hours

 Compensation: Choose either 4 research credits for an educational psychology course OR $40 cash

THE HUSKER COPING WITH EMOTION STUDY


Description: This study is about managing emotions in everyday life. You will complete questions about the way you manage your emotions and your social media use. You will complete three online tasks that measure your attention in emotional and non-emotional contexts. You will complete the study through web browsers on an internet-enabled computer with a key board (you can’t use your phone). Your responses will be anonymous. You must complete ALL parts of the study to receive your course credits and print your course completion slip at the end. Estimated Duration:  Up to 2 hours

Eligibity: UNL Educational Psychology students 17 years and older. You need access to a laptop or desktop computer to complete the study.
