Dipra Jha, Associate Professor of Practice in Hospitality, Restaurant, and Tourism Management, recently delivered a YouTube Live presentation as part of “Tourism Empowers” multi-disciplinary forum organized by the University of Aveiro in Portugal. The event on October 25th was aimed at fostering a dialogue among academicians, researchers, students and the general public to determine better techniques in empowering people and transforming destinations sustainably using a collaborative approach.

UNL Teacher Scholars learn wellbeing strategies for long-term teaching success

Jen McNally, mental health coordinator and psychotherapist based out of ESU 5, presented to the UNL community hosted by the Teacher Scholars Academy about her work surrounding mental wellbeing as it relates to educational institutions. McNally travels the state of Nebraska working with administrators and teachers to develop self-care strategies in order to decrease early exists from the profession of teaching. Additionally, McNally focuses on the importance of changing cultures within schools to address teachers’ mental wellbeing.

Kaleb Briscoe selected for CAHEP Early Career Workshop

Kaleb Briscoe, doctoral candidate and Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Educational Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, was one of 30 participants chosen for the Early Career Workshop by the Council for the Advancement of Higher Education Programs (CAHEP) at this year’s Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) conference.

Nebraska faculty awarded grant to train special education leaders in intervention design

Beginning in August 2020, the faculty from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s special education program will train six doctoral students to design and provide academic interventions. 

The program, which aims to develop leaders in the field of special education, is supported by more than $1.9 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs, the Barkley Memorial Center and Nebraska’s Office of Graduate Studies.

UNL center receives 11 million for obesity and related disease research

The Nebraska Center for the Prevention of Obesity, (NPOD),  received an 11 million dollar grant. It's to continue studies to fight obesity and other related diseases by looking at what we eat on a molecular level.
