Retired FBI Agent and Hospitality Program Making a Difference against Human Trafficking

About three years ago, Hospitality, Restaurant, and Tourism Management (HRTM) Associate Professor Shannon Rowen heard retired Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) special agent Anna Brewer speak about Human Trafficking in Nebraska at an event in Omaha and knew she had to introduce the topic of human trafficking to her hospitality students.

Adrienne Pitt joins SECD speech-language pathology faculty

Adrienne Pitt’s interest in helping individuals with special needs was first piqued when she was in elementary school, and it led her to a career in speech-language pathology. Now, she hopes she can help speech-language pathology students in SECD develop that same passion about caring for others.

Nebraska CEC conference set for Sept. 27 on East Campus

The Nebraska Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) will hold its annual conference Friday, Sept. 27, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Nebraska East Union. 

The conference, which is scheduled to run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., is open to anyone supporting students with special needs, including special education and general education teachers, para-educators, administrators, researchers, students and parents.
