Work is a powerful force for promoting social well-being, dignity, and liberation. My commitment to this belief fundamentally shapes my identity as a counseling psychologist. As a scientist-practitioner, I value occupational equity, inclusion, and mental well-being for marginalized groups underrepresented in vocational psychology literature and in the workforce broadly.

I orient my research from a multicultural framework and use both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to examine two primary lines of inquiry: (1) the influence of contextual and social identity factors on career decision-making among college students and working adults, and (2) the impact of career shocks across the lifespan. Most recently, my research has focused on the career decision-making and career development of individuals with marginalized gender and racial/ethnic identities in the post-COVID workforce.

Informed by this research agenda, my investment in teaching and mentoring is guided by a passion for fostering equitable access to education. I am committed to supporting students’ growth as scientists and practitioners as they develop personally and professionally. To that end, I strive to create innovative and contextually relevant learning environments that engage students as holistic individuals and use a strengths-based approach to encourage them to apply psychological concepts to the “real world” within intersectional and multicultural frameworks.
