Sara Reuss joined the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders as a lecturer and coordinator of the Orientation and Mobility (O&M) training program in the summer of 2022.
Prior to arriving at Nebraska, Reuss spent 10 years at ESU4/Nebraska Center for the Education of Children Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired (NCECBVI). She served in various capacities, including as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) and Certified Low Vision Therapist providing direct instruction and consultation for NCECBVI's center-based and residential programs, as well as outreach services to children throughout Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri.
In 2017, Reuss earned her master's degree from Salus University, and also became a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist through the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Educational Professionals (ACVREP). Reuss went on to earn a degree in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy in 2019 from Salus, and has been a Certified Low Vision Therapist since that time. She completed internships at the Helen Keller National Center on Long Island in its center-based and New York City community programs, as well as the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital in Chicago. Reuss is a 2011 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor's degree in anthropology.
