Learning to Teach in an Urban Teacher Residency and a Traditional Teacher Education Program: A Comparative Study of Differing Program Features
In 2016-2018, Hilary Conklin (DePaul), Kavita Kapadia Matsko (Northwestern University), and I received a Spencer Foundation Small Grant to study how novice teachers in Chicago learned to teach in two different pathways: DePaul University and the Academy for Urban School Leadership, a teacher residency program aimed at preparing a diverse cohort of teachers to teach in Chicago schools.
