Minji explores ways to design student-centered learning and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM and computing (STEM+C) education. She investigates instructional technology solutions that amplify the scope of teaching and learning in K-8 STEM+C education. Her expertise lies in designing engaging and accessible learning experiences, especially for computational literacy, data literacy, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy at the K-8 levels.

Using advanced statistical approaches and video analysis, Minji examined K-8 students’ knowledge, problem-solving skills, and motivational change in STEM+C education. She has been actively involved in research initiatives that aim for educational equity for diverse students and communities. For example, she is an active member of the Expanding Computing Education Pathways (ECEP) alliance, endeavoring to research how different states in the United States use policies and pathways to expand access, broaden participation, and promote diversity in computing education.

Minji has held various roles in K-8 education, including classroom teacher and coordinator/instructor for the district's STEM+C program for gifted students.
