Ph.D. Program Teaching, Curriculum and Learning
Contact
My name is Tianna Bankhead and I am a native Nebraskan,
originally from Omaha. I have been working in education for about 12 years.
The first half of that time I spent working in before and after school
programs, as well as summer programs. The second half of that time I have
spent working as an English Language Learner teacher in an elementary and
high school setting. Additionally, I have taught adult ELL's at the community
college level and within the Lincoln Community. I completed my Bachelor and
Master degrees at UNL in TLTE, and I am excited to be back as a PhD student.
Research Interests
My research interests include:
- supporting pre-service and in-service educators with multilingual learners
in the classroom
- Researching and comparing the intersectionality experiences of students
from the African Diaspora. This includes, but is not limited to,
multilingual, immigrant/refugee and U.S. born students who identify as
African or African American
- racial identity of multilingual learners and how that affects their public
school experience in the U.S.
