06 Sep 2023

The College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is hosting on-campus events for high school students interested in learning more about the teaching, and nutrition and health sciences programs the college offers.

The Teaching at Nebraska event is Friday, Oct. 6, at Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall, while Nutrition and Health Sciences at Nebraska Day is Friday, Oct. 13, at the Nebraska East Union. Both events will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Teaching at Nebraska will feature breakout sessions about trends and hot topics in the field of teaching, as well as campus tours and an information fair to learn more about global experiences, research and hands-on learning opportunities, student organizations, and student teaching. Students will have the opportunity to meet current students and faculty from a variety of teaching programs. CEHS offers programs that prepare students to educate children from birth to 12th grade through a nationally recognized curriculum and learning through hands-on opportunities such as practicums and student teaching.

Nutrition and Health Sciences at Nebraska Day will include informational sessions about different options within the Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences. CEHS offers a variety of academic programs preparing students to work in fields such as community health and wellness, nutrition, exercise sciences, and hospitality, restaurant and tourism management, while also providing support for preparing students for graduate degree programs in dietetics, athletic training, physical therapy and nursing. In addition to the information sessions, students will have the opportunity to meet current students and faculty during an information fair and campus tours.

Registration for Teaching at Nebraska is open until Sept. 22 at go.unl.edu/teaching-at-nebraska.

Students interested in attending Nutrition and Health Sciences at Nebraska Day can register by Sept. 29 at go.unl.edu/nutrition-health-at-nebraska.

Any questions about either event can be directed to Dijon DeLaPorte, the CEHS Director of Recruitment, at ddelaporte2@unl.edu.
