Wilma’s research interest is in the range of global health nutrition among children community, particularly that related to community health prevention of childhood obesity and social determinant of health. She is also interested in expanding her expertise to health education with interdisciplinary approaches. Her current research is around healthy feeding practice of children related with family engagement factors. She believes that to prevent childhood obesity as the major public health problem, various aspects of children from, nutrition, psychology, to education are strongly related.

As a physician with international medical background, Wilma’s previous research interests were mostly focus on diseases prevention and intervention that impact nutrition status of children community. Her study about inappropriate antibiotic prescription in the United States ambulatory care visit during her master training as well as intestinal worm infection that focus on children community in Indonesia has provided her with various research experience and skills work with children community. She had also great experience engaged with family where she involved as field coordinator in See and Treat Program, an international collaborative project between Indonesia and Leiden University Medical Centre, Netherlands to prevent cervical and breast cancer among mother’s community in rural areas in Indonesia.

Grew up in rural area in Bali, Indonesia, upon graduation from the doctoral training, Wilma is hoping to become a public health nutrition practitioner who can contribute in local, regional, and global scope to improve nutrition of underserved communities.

High acknowledgement for diversity, various culture environment that have offered by faculties, staff, and colleagues in this department make me feels like I build my own family in Lincoln, Nebraska."
